John Marsalis, FNC’s Corporate Director of Software Development, has been with FNC for over 13 years. In his time at FNC he has served in many roles, including managing development of FNC’s corporate websites and leading the development and evolution of AppraisalPort. Currently he oversees FNC’s application development, internal systems, and user experience teams.
While FNC is primarily a Microsoft shop, at the heart of it all, the goal is to use technology to solve real problems. Marsalis’ philosophy is to use the best tools available to overcome incredible challenges and to not be married to any one technology. Whether it is caching with Redis, using MongoDB for big data storage, or scaling our services with RabbitMQ, the problem drives our choice of tools, not the other way around.
Passionate about innovation, Marsalis was part of the Innovation Team that started FNC’s 80/20 program and continues to drive an innovative culture at FNC.
Marsalis received his bachelor of business administration in management information systems at the University of Mississippi in 2001. While at Ole Miss, he studied under one of FNC’s founders, John Johnson, which led to his decision to join FNC. He currently resides in Oxford, Mississippi where he is a food and music enthusiast and an avid runner.
